What is Shadow & Spirit?
I believe that within each of us lives a beautiful and complex duality. There is the part of us that we show to the world, our light, our strength, our 'Spirit.' And then, there is the part we often keep hidden: Our vulnerability, our past, our 'Shadow.' True wholeness, I believe, comes not from ignoring the shadow, but from understanding its purpose and integrating it with the light. This is the heart of inner alchemy.
My work as an artist is a visual exploration of these unseen emotional landscapes.
The "Shadow & Spirit" series is a new body of work dedicated to capturing this powerful duality. This is not about creating a traditional, photorealistic portrait. It's about capturing an energetic essence. Through an intuitive painting process, I will create a piece that honors both your authentic spirit and the quiet strength of your shadow, revealing a portrait of your whole, integrated self.
The Experience
Here's what our session will look like:
Connection: We'll begin by simply sitting down together in my studio, sharing a cup of tea, coffee, or champagne to celebrate YOU, and talking about the project's theme. We will discuss your Spirit and your Shadow, and the meaning behind both.
Reflection: I will guide you through a short, simple journaling or reflection exercise to help you connect with the feelings of 'shadow' and 'spirit' within yourself. We will practice in a mirror with poses for your ‘shadow.’ You will choose from a variety of poses and have some time to embody that post. We will also begin to choose your ‘spirit’ by discussing animal guides and their meanings.
Creation: I will then work with you to project your shadow onto the paper, allowing you time to move with your shadow and move into your final post that will be sketched onto your painting.
Additional Information
You will be required to sign a model release form before we begin.
Full payment is required at the end of the session.
Shipping is not included
You are welcome to bring a friend to the studio for your session if you like. Sessions are full of chat, music and of course art!
Please be on time to your session as I may have other clients coming after your session!
Price List for Collaborative Sessions
Collaborative Spirit & Shadow Sessions are $1,100
One Standard Size Painting of 30 x 40 inches on paper.
$550 deposit is non refundable, the remaining $550 is due at the end of the session
Payment plans available for deposit and the remaining balance before the painting is shipped out.
